Who Is Richard?

Whether by design, accident, or conspiracy Kent Hovind has a habit of getting on the wrong side of the law.  If it is not charges of violating building codes it is the IRS looking for back taxes on undeclared income.

To ferment some public support for Hovind's IRS battles someone has collected the documentation of Hovind's legal cases on the web site richardsayshome.com The host name is only given as "Richard" but he admits this is not his real name;

"Richard" is so protective he has used the services of Domains By Proxy (which is legal) to shield his identity.

So, we have a mysterious "Richard" who hosts a web site rallying support for Kent Hovind's legal battles.  Amongst these documents are articles written by "Richard" himself which take the form of conversations with Kent Hovind or pleas to the general public. The remainder of the web site consists of two anti-tax web links (one dead), and links to drdino.com plus a doctor spruiking the benefits of vitamins.

Below is a complete list of all the relevant documents stored on richardsayshome.com  All of these documents were conveniently provided in Word format.  The nice thing about Word documents is they have the identity of the author (or their computer) attached to the file.  As these documents detail the legal battles of Kent Hovind it is no surprise the author is often listed as Kent Hovind, or his lawyer, or various secretaries who have produced these documents.

The documents written by "Richard" have been highlighted.  However, when we look at the author description provided by Word the familiar names "kent" and "Kent Hovind" appear.  Another ghost author is "Jonathan" who is likely Hovind's assistant, Jonathan Sampson. 

Two scenarios which could produce these results, neither which make Kent Hovind look particularly honest.  

Worse case scenario (for Hovind) is "Richard" does not exist.  The character was invented by Hovind (or Jonathan Sampson) to give the appearance that someone without a vested interest supports Hovind's cause.

A less embarrassing and more likely scenario is "Richard" does exist and has access to Hovind's computer.  That is, "Richard" is an employee of Creation Science Evangelism who used Hovind's personal computer (giving the default author) to rally support for his employer.  Hovind has attempted to distance himself from the public promotion of his legal difficulties.  He said in November 2005;

Notice that Hovind refers to this person as "Richard" and claims to have spoken with him about these issues.  Hovind fails to mention the close connection between himself and "Richard".  They are so close that "Richard" uses Hovind's personal computer.  Hovind also fails to mention that "Richard" is not this individual's real name and is probably a direct employee.
